Case study: a Dallas outdoor kitchen maker

This case study follows a Dallas outdoor kitchen maker we work with. In Google Analytics 4 (GA4), its organic search sessions went from 258 to 1,359 between two 12-month ranges, and AI assistants sent 50 sessions after sending none. ChatGPT named it first on October 15, 2026.

By Donnie Strompf. Updated October 2026.

What the business is

Based in Dallas, Texas, with national reach, the outdoor kitchen maker designs and builds luxury outdoor kitchens in stainless steel and sintered stone.

Every client figure on this page comes from two sources: GA4 data for its website, and one dated ChatGPT answer. The page has no revenue, order or lead figures.

The situation

In the 12 months to October 14, 2025, GA4 recorded 258 organic search sessions on the maker’s site. Those are visits that arrived from unpaid search results. That is a small base.

In the same earlier range, GA4 recorded no sessions in its “AI Assistant” channel, the group GA4 uses for visits it attributes to AI tools. The only AI-engine answer on this page is the one from October 15, 2026.

What was done

The engagement pairs SEO services with AI visibility work from our AEO services. Our SEO work targets where the site appears in Google’s organic results, and our AEO work targets whether AI engines such as ChatGPT name the business when a buyer asks. The engagement is ongoing. Its start date is not published, so this page cannot attribute any share of the change below to our work.

What the numbers show

Each row is a date range or a single dated check. The two organic rows compare ranges a year apart. The AI rows have no earlier figure, so they show that AI traffic appeared and say nothing about speed.

GA4 recorded 1,101 more organic sessions in the later 12-month range. The data does not show how much of that rise came from our work. August 2026 recorded 160 organic sessions, compared with 81 in August 2025.

In the 12 months to October 14, 2026, AI assistants sent 50 sessions, and 76% of them were engaged. Google’s GA4 help page on engagement rate defines an engaged session as one that lasts longer than 10 seconds, has a key event, or has two or more page or screen views. Looking at the whole site, AI engines were 1.3% of its traffic in the six months to October 14, 2026, the highest share in our portfolio. On October 15, 2026, a ChatGPT prompt asking who makes luxury stainless and sintered-stone outdoor kitchens returned the maker as the first name. That is one answer on one day, and a different day or wording can return a different order. This page publishes no Perplexity or Gemini answer for the maker.

What an owner in the same industry can take from it

  • Ask for inquiry or sales data next to any traffic chart, from any agency. Sessions count visits, and a jump from 258 to 1,359 of them leaves open whether anyone called.
  • Check your own GA4 for AI visits. The Traffic acquisition report can show sessions by channel and by source. If chatgpt.com and similar sources sit inside general referral traffic, ask whoever manages your analytics to group them, so the first AI visits are visible.
  • Run your own buyer prompts in ChatGPT, write down the date and wording, and save the answer. One answer shows what ChatGPT returned on one day, and only a series of dated records shows whether it holds. Our home services marketing page covers our work with contractors and builders.

Price for this kind of work

In competitive markets SEO reaches about $3,500 a month, against $1,000 to $1,600 a month otherwise. AEO, the AI visibility service, is $950 to $2,000 a month. Prices reviewed October 2026. Treat them as the list as of today; the maker’s own fee is not stated here. The pricing page covers the rest of our services, and the SEO cost guide goes through what moves a quote.

FAQ

Is 1,359 organic sessions a lot for a business like this?

This page does not compare it with other businesses. The earlier range was 258, so the site grew from a small base. Sessions count visits, and visits alone do not show inquiries or sales, which this page has no figures for.

Does the 76% engaged figure mean AI visitors took action?

No. In GA4, an engaged session lasts longer than 10 seconds, has a key event, or has two or more page or screen views, so a visit can count as engaged without any inquiry. The 76% covers the 50 AI Assistant sessions in the 12 months to October 14, 2026, which averaged 2 minutes 25 seconds.

What is the AI Assistant channel in GA4?

It is a channel grouping in GA4 for visits that GA4 attributes to AI assistants. We read it for the 12 months to October 14, 2026. It showed 50 sessions for the maker’s site, and it showed none in the 12 months before that.

Does the page show where the visits came from?

No. The 1,359 organic sessions count every visit from search results to the whole site in the 12 months to October 14, 2026. No split by city or state is published, so the page makes no claim about where the visits came from.
