Case study: XO and national SEO for private aviation

XO, a private jet charter and membership brand, ran national SEO with us in two stretches. Its main search term, “private jet”, climbed from page 2 to the top 3, slid to position 7 in the COVID pause, then took position 1 in the second stretch. Weekly reports from July 2021 to March 2023 track the second stretch.

What the business is

XO sells private jet charter and membership. National SEO meant its pages competed for searches from anywhere in the United States instead of one metro area. Two kinds of search mattered: a general term such as “private jet”, and searches that name a city or a route. Background on the industry is on our private aviation marketing page.

The situation

When the first stretch began, “private jet” sat on page 2 of Google. Within a few months the term was in the top 3.

A client review was posted on Google in May 2020.

Then came a COVID pause, and the term fell to position 7. The second stretch began with weekly reports in July 2021; the latest report used here is from March 2023.

What was done

XO engaged us for SEO services in both stretches. The weekly reports in the second one counted tracked conversions in three groups: geo and route, broad, and branded. As with every SEO client, you approve every page before it goes live.

What the numbers show

Positions are for “private jet”. The conversion rows give direction and order from the weekly reports; the weekly counts themselves stay in XO’s reports.

In March 2023 the weekly report ranked the three groups in this order: geo and route first, branded second at about a third of the total, and broad third.

Geo and route conversions rose 44% across the weekly reports from July 2021 to March 2023, and by early 2023 route and city pages were XO’s top converting category. The same reports showed “private jet” on its own converting less than the route and city pages combined.

Read the table with its limits in mind. This page gives directions and shares rather than weekly counts, which stay in XO’s reports, and it has no conversion data for the first stretch, so nothing here measures growth before July 2021. It does not define a tracked conversion, and the latest report used is from March 2023: we make no claim about XO’s rankings, conversions or relationship with us after that month. Rankings move with Google and with competitors, and we promise none.

What an owner in the same industry can take from it

  • Ask for conversions split by search type from the first report. In March 2023, about a third of XO’s weekly tracked conversions were branded, and a single total would not have shown how the three groups compared.
  • Put the head term next to the pages built around places. By early 2023 route and city pages were XO’s top converting category, ahead of “private jet” on its own.
  • Expect rankings to move, and ask how your agency reports a drop. XO’s term went from the top 3 to position 7 during the pause, then to position 1.

Before the first report arrives, write down what counts as a tracked conversion for you, such as a form, a call or a booking. Without that, two reports cannot be compared.

When you compare agencies, ask each one for the same four lines from its own client records: the term, the position at each date, the conversion count for each group, and what the report counts as a conversion. Where a line is blank, as the first stretch’s conversion counts are on this page, a good agency says so. Keep the report dates too: a figure without its window cannot be checked a year later, and a comparison across two windows of different length misleads.

Price for this kind of work

Without the other channels, SEO costs $1,000 to $1,600 a month, going to about $3,500 where competition is heavy. The national aviation bundle adds paid search, plus email and social, to SEO and AI visibility, and its published ceiling is $20,000 a month, set by workload and competitiveness. The SEO cost guide and the pricing page give the detail, and prices were reviewed in October 2026.

FAQ

Can another private aviation brand expect XO’s result?

These results do not establish what another brand will achieve. They are one brand’s record, and Google and competitors move rankings too. A brand can ask for the same three-way split of conversions in its own reports and judge the work by that.

What does national SEO for a private aviation brand cost?

On its own, SEO runs from $1,000 to $1,600 a month and reaches about $3,500 in a competitive market. The national private aviation bundle, which covers more channels, tops out at $20,000 a month. A brand can start with one service and add others later. The pricing page lists both ranges.

What do the three conversion groups mean?

In search reports, a branded conversion follows a search that includes the company name. Geo and route conversions usually follow searches that name a place or a route, and broad conversions follow general searches that name none of those. XO’s weekly reports used these groups; this page does not give the rules behind them.

Why does this case study have no revenue figure?

The figures available for this case study are positions and the direction of weekly tracked conversions, so those are the only figures here. This page publishes no booking or revenue figures, and a conversion count is not revenue. When any agency shows you a conversion number, ask which event it counts.
