What should a Boca Raton firm decide before it hires a web designer?

In our view, a professional firm’s website has to answer a prospective client’s first questions before that client picks up the phone. Before any mockup, settle how visitors will reach the site, whether people with disabilities can use it and what the pages say about who stands behind the work.

What connections do Boca Raton households have?

The Census Bureau reports that 96.7% of Boca Raton households had a computer and 93.3% had a broadband Internet subscription, both for 2020 to 2024 (U.S. Census Bureau, QuickFacts, read October 19, 2026). These figures describe residents’ home access. They say nothing about phones or about visitors from outside the city, so test the phone version of every page on a mobile connection and not only on office Wi-Fi.

Can people with disabilities use the site?

The same Census page reports that 24.6% of Boca Raton residents are 65 or older (a July 1, 2025 estimate) and that 4.9% of residents under 65 have a disability (2020 to 2024). Those are residents and not your visitors, so treat the numbers as background.

The Department of Justice’s web accessibility guidance (ADA.gov, March 18, 2022) says the Department has held since 1996 that the ADA applies to web content. It says businesses open to the public must give people with disabilities full and equal enjoyment of their goods and services, including those offered online, and it lists hospitals and medical offices among its examples. The page says it does not reflect the April 2024 requirements for state and local governments, and that the Department has no regulation setting detailed standards for business websites.

The barriers it names are ones a designer can check on a draft: low color contrast, color used alone to carry information, images with no text alternative, videos with no captions, forms without labels or error messages, and pages that cannot be used from a keyboard. The W3C organises its WCAG guidelines under four principles and gives each guideline testable success criteria, which gives a tester a checklist to work through (W3C, WCAG 2 Overview, read October 19, 2026). Which requirements apply to your firm is a question for counsel.

What does a credibility page show?

Google’s guidance on helpful content asks whether it is self-evident who created a page, whether pages carry a byline where one is expected, and whether bylines lead to background on the author (Google Search Central, last updated October 5, 2026). The same page calls fabricated creator profiles deceptive, and names made-up names and false credentials as examples.

For a Boca Raton firm, that points to a named page for each attorney, physician or advisor. In our view, a good one gives the person’s name, the credentials you can document, the practice areas or specialties and a way to reach them. Rules on what a lawyer’s site may say vary by state bar, and other professions answer to their own boards. We summarise none of those rules, so check yours before a bio, a testimonial or a results claim goes live.

A practice-area or service page carries the same weight. In our view, a visitor with one problem wants to see that you handle it, who handles it and what to do next, in that order, before any firm history. Put the contact route on the page itself and not only in the menu.

What should the proposal list?

A web design proposal for a Boca Raton firm is easier to compare when it names the same things. Ask each designer to put these in writing:

  • Pages included, and who supplies the text and photos.
  • The forms and integrations, such as a scheduling tool, and who holds the account for each.
  • The accessibility standard the build targets and how it will be tested.
  • The platform plan the site needs and what that plan costs apart from the design.
  • How old addresses will redirect, if the site replaces one that already ranks.
  • What is outside the project, and what a later change costs.

Which platform fits a Boca Raton professional firm?

The table restates vendor help pages, each dated in our WordPress vs Wix vs Squarespace vs Shopify comparison. Use it to write questions for a proposal; it picks no winner.

PlatformFits a firm whenAsk before you sign
WordPress.orgThe site needs many practice or provider pagesWhich account pays the host bill
WordPress.comYou want managed hosting on WordPressWhich plan allows plugins; Free has none
WixIt is a short brochure site you edit yourselfHow redirects are set up if the site moves later
SquarespaceIt has a few pages and built-in business markupBuilt-in markup cannot be edited
ShopifyThe firm also sells products onlineWhat exports: products as a CSV file

Whichever platform wins, your company should be the named owner of the domain and of the hosting and platform accounts. If the current site already brings in calls, our website redesign SEO checklist covers the steps to take ahead of a launch and after it, and the comparison above explains how redirects differ by platform.

Which Boca Raton owners are asking for a new site?

Three kinds of Boca Raton owners ask a web designer for different things.

Law firms with several practice areas. In our view, prospective clients arrive with one legal problem in mind, so give each practice area its own page, name the attorney who handles it and link to that attorney’s page. The firm’s advertising rules apply to every word of those pages. Law firms comparing agencies can start at our legal marketing page.

Medical and dental practices with several providers. Visitors look for a provider, a service and a way to book. That points to a page per provider, a page per service and one clear route to contact. In our view, list the insurance plans you accept and the languages your staff speak on the provider’s page when that is true, because visitors may want both answers before they book. Before a form or tracking code goes on a page patients use, ask your compliance contact which patient privacy rules apply.

Firms whose clients speak more than one language. The Census Bureau reports that 25.2% of Boca Raton residents aged 5 and older speak a language other than English at home and that 20.4% of residents are foreign-born (2020 to 2024). A firm whose clients include those households may want its main pages translated. A translated set is a second site to keep current, so decide who will maintain it before you commission it.

Donnie leads SEO strategy, Jay Hebbar handles design and development, Roni Strompf writes content and runs paid media. You approve every page before it goes live. The website design and development page describes the service, our digital marketing agency in Boca Raton page covers every service for the city, and the Boca Raton SEO page covers search.

Budget questions beyond the website are answered in our small business marketing cost guide. Firms elsewhere in the county can start from the Palm Beach County page.

FAQ

Is a Boca Raton professional-firm website a one-time project or a monthly fee?

Our websites are quoted per project after a call, and the pricing page leaves website projects out of its monthly estimate. Monthly services are listed there separately. Ask any designer whether hosting and later edits sit inside the quote or are billed on their own.

Which accessibility standard is a firm website checked against?

The Department of Justice guidance names the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) among existing technical standards. WCAG 2.2 was published on October 5, 2023, with testable success criteria at three conformance levels, and the W3C encourages the latest version (W3C, WCAG 2 Overview, read October 19, 2026). Which level applies to you is a question for counsel.

Should every attorney or physician have a separate page?

In our view, yes when a client may choose one person, because a page of their own can carry that person’s credentials and be linked from the services they handle. Short bios on a shared team page are a fallback. When someone leaves, update or retire the page so it stops describing them as available.

Can an attorney’s website show client testimonials and case results?

Rules on testimonials and results claims come from your state bar and vary, so we summarise none. Ask your bar or ethics counsel before publishing either, and keep the answer in writing. A designer can build the layout, but the wording remains the firm’s responsibility.

Should a Boca Raton firm add a second-language version of its site?

It depends on who calls you. If you add one, Google’s documentation says each language version must list itself and every other version, and that annotations are ignored when two pages do not point to each other. Translated pages count as duplicates only if their main content stays untranslated (Google Search Central, localized versions, read October 19, 2026).

What structured data should a Boca Raton practice or firm add?

Google’s local business documentation lists a name and an address as the required properties and asks for the most specific LocalBusiness type that fits. It points to the Rich Results Test for checking the code, and it does not guarantee that any search feature will appear (Google Search Central, read October 19, 2026).
